Started in 1979 by Samatua Shafer, Shafer’s Roofing has been a staple of the local Hawaiian community ever since.
Sam, from day one, believed in hard work, the love of his family and the love of God and imparted that into the work we did in Kapolei and the surrounding regions. When Sam passed, his legacy and motto “A Family Business Portraying Family Qualities” was carried on thru his daughter, Bernadette Shafer Robins; our current owner. Bernie followed her father’s footsteps in roofing, obtained her contractor’s license in 2000, and has led the company to grow and flourish into one of Hawaii’s most respected roofers!
Today, Shafer’s Roofing prides itself on being the only female owned and operated roofing company, and is recognized by the State of Hawaii as a Women Owned Small Disadvantage Company, and is also currently certified by the Federal Government as an 8(a) Small Disadvantage Business.
Bernadette serves as the current Vice President of the Roofing Contractors Association of Hawaii.

We can provide you with current copies of any of the following documentation upon request: Contractor’s License, General Excise License; General Liability & Worker’s Comp Insurance; “Certificate of Good Standing” with the State of Hawaii, Department of Commerce & Consumer Affairs, and a “Certificate of Vendor Compliance” from the State of Hawaii.
